Use AutoCAD 2018 or earlier when pasting drawing entities that contain proxy objects from SPATIALnet. when you change the Z angle on the UCS, anything drawn on that plane is no longer at Z=0 when you change back. Solution: Do one or more of the following: Install the latest update for AutoCAD (see Install Updates, Add-ons, and Enhancements). THe drawing elevation is usually Zero, but not always. in details the AutoCAD clipboard tools like COPYBASE, COPYCLIP, PASTEBLOCK. when you change the UCS, you've just ensured that any error will be magnified because the Z is not the SAME 0, it was selected from a ZERO PLANE, not the zero point. AutoCAD: Copy/Paste taking a long time or not working - IMAGINiT WebJan 21. it's using the relationship to Z=0, and that might not be where you think it is. How you guys predict it without selecting the point is beyond me. If you change USC between copy and paste, be aware that your Z-layer plane is only the same at a single point (or ray) if it's different at all. Now rotate the image and see if it is really using that point as the basepoint, or if the distance from Z is maintained. Copying and pasting using the Clipboard retains the size of the objects in absolute units. Differences in drawing units between source and target drawings. It happened first with a single-segment polyline, then I tried a few other objects - dtext, rectangle, closed polyline. Today, for some reason, everything I copyclip and pasteclip comes out as a block reference. Next draw a simple horizontal line, and Then use copyclip to paste the object to the end of that line. In AutoCAD, using the Clipboard (Ctrl+C, Ctrl+C Cmd+C, Cmd+V) to copy and paste objects between drawings results in objects being pasted or scaled in the wrong size. Im using AutoCAD 2015 on a 2D drawing, and usually use CTRL-C and CTRL-V for my copying. Then view from several angles using 3dorbit to see if that line is doing what you expected it to do. Before running the copyclip, use the line command to draw a line from 0,0,0 to wherever you think your basepoint will be. with text content between word-processor files or something.Upon changing the ucs, your copyclip may not be using the basepoint you think it is. Or try it entirely outside of AutoCAD, e.g. Have you tried it with different kinds of things? Alfred's suggestion about proxy objects might result in nothing being in the clipboard, but if you try copying/pasting some ordinary things like Lines, you should be able to tell whether the process is viable. upon changing the ucs, your copyclip may not be using the basepoint you think it is. So I'm guessing that there's some reason that the Copyclip command is not succeeding in putting things there, or there's something wrong with the computer or the Windows environment. When there's nothing in the clipboard, the Pasteclip command does not offer an insertion-point prompt, as you describe. I suspect that it has nothing to do with the drawing file(s), but with the copying to the clipboard. When a try to Copy any object from layout (Crt+C or Crtl+Shift+C command), it seems to work, but really doesnt, because i cant Paste object in any place, even in another file created with Nanocad. But when I tried to paste it into a new drawing, the command line just shows "_pasteclip" and nothing happens, instead of "_pasteclip Specify insertion point." AutoCAD attempts to fix these and crashes. Corrupt DWG file Update 3 When you audit a drawing, erased objects may be identified as invalid objects. If you explode mirrored blocks and then save your drawing, AutoCAD may crash. when I COPYCLIP, the command line responded and found all the items. When you use the PASTEBLOCK command, AutoCAD may crash.
